Objective
The goal of this assignment is to create a redesign proposal for an existing website. I need to analyze its current design and user experience, identify the main problems, and then propose improvements that enhance aesthetics, usability, and overall performance.

I chose Indie Music Review, a website that focuses on music reviews, interviews, and show recommendations, because I think it has several visual and UX issues and still uses a very old-fashioned blog layout. My work will be divided into several parts:

  1. Website Analysis
I’ll start by analyzing the current layout, color scheme, typography, imagery, and overall look of the website. Then I’ll examine the user experience, including its navigation, accessibility, and responsiveness. I’ll also review its functionality, such as loading speed, interactivity, and compatibility across devices and browsers.

  2. Redesign Goals
Next, I’ll define the main goals of my redesign—for example, making the interface more modern, improving usability, and strengthening the website’s identity as a contemporary music media platform.

  3. Target Audience
I’ll identify the target users of Indie Music Review, understand their needs and behaviors (such as how they browse reviews or discover new artists), and explain how my redesign will better serve them.

  4. Design Proposal
Finally, I’ll present my design proposal, including moodboards, visual references, and wireframes, along with the reasoning behind my design decisions. I’ll also describe my UX improvement strategies, such as simplifying navigation, reorganizing content, and adding more interactive elements. From a technical point of view, I’ll focus on faster loading times, better mobile optimization, and overall performance improvements.

This project is about combining design analysis and creative problem-solving—turning a dated, text-heavy music review website into a platform that feels intuitive, visually appealing, and efficient to use.

Reflection
In analyzing and redesigning Indie Music Review, I realized that the website's problems weren't caused by a single element, but rather by a combination of outdated overall structure, cluttered layout, and unclear navigation, resulting in a poor user experience. By breaking down the layout, fonts, color scheme, and functionality, I learned to assess design issues more systematically, rather than relying solely on first impressions. The redesign process also made it clear to me that a good music review website needs strong readability, clear categorization, a stable visual system, and more modern interaction methods. This project helped me move from "identifying problems" to "proposing solutions," enhancing my analytical, design, and logical thinking abilities.
